REV’IT! has announced the next-generation of their award winning motorcycle boots — the Expedition GTX. Praised for delivering waterproofness and high levels of protection in a comfortable adventure boot when first introduced in 2019 as the Expedition H20, the Dutch brand has set out to improve the design further in 2022 with the new GTX.

As before, the new Expedition GTX boot comes with a Vibram Apex sole to maximize grip, along with a convenient Boa cable closure system (think snowboard boots) to ensure a snug fit. Like the H20, the latest iteration also comes with a leather shell reinforced with Superfabric for increased abrasion protection, and there’s a TPU shin plate with Seesoft armor padding in the tongue.

Other features carry over as well like the polypropylene insole with integrated shank for increased support standing on the pegs and the reinforced heel and toe area, which includes a rubber gear shift pad. In addition, REV’IT!’s Dynamic Support Frame (DSF) provides a rigid support structure with an ankle pivot that offers freedom of movement while protecting against hyperextension under extreme forces.

So what’s new? Instead of using a standard Hydratex waterproof membrane, REV’IT! incorporated a Gore-Tex liner into the shell. It now comes with the 100% waterproof breathable performance you expect from a Gore-Tex product, along with more stringent production standards and a Gore-Tex guarantee, in addition to REV’IT!’s own 2-year warranty. What’s more, the boots are CE certified to EN 13634 standards and have achieved a level 2 IPS rating.

After getting to try out a set on a recent adventure, we can report that REV’IT! has made additional improvements in the comfort of the boot as well. Previously, it was quite a tight squeeze getting your foot into the H20 boots, despite the easy pull tab on the back that aided the process. Now your foot glides right into the GTX without a struggle and once closed the heel area remains snug. Comfort was top notch on short hikes as well and the Vibram sole offered excellent grip on slippery rocks. Throughout the trip the boots proved to be 100% waterproof, even after spending hours riding in the rain, stepping in puddles, and traversing countless stream crossings.

Unfortunately, the price has gone up as you might expect with the incorporation of Gore-Tex material into the product. It’s a top shelf price tag at $839 per set but what you get is a high level of off-road protection for an adventure boot, that’s completely waterproof and also comfortable to walk or hike in.

So far we’ve been pretty stoked with these new kicks from REV’IT! but we’ll report back with additional details as we get more testing in. For more information on the Expedition GTX boots you can check out the REV’IT! Website.

Price is ridiculous! Does look like a great boot though.
